Women of Strength

Filed under: Sociology and Society — sweetlouie @ 9:27 am

OK, so I know that September, or even October is not the month for women. In fact it’s way too off. The Women’s Month is celebrated during March. But hey, whoever said we can’t give our ode to great women on any other month?

One of the things or rather people I have high regards for are women of strength. They may be just strengthened through the test of time or just innately strong but it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that at the end of it all, they were able to come out of their situation scarred yet head held high and more ready to face whatever may come their way.

I have known a lot of women of strength in this lifetime. These women may not be popular. They may not be even that known in their neighborhood but in my heart I saw their struggle or have heard testimonies of how they were able to battle what life has thrown at them.

Single moms. I just raise my hands in surrender to these women. Imagine raising a kid or even kids on your own. With the scars that are left within them regarding their situation, still they’re just able to appreciate what they have been blessed with.

Cancer patients. They may have lost every hope when they knew about this and yet they fight this dreaded disease with all their will to live. And I can just shake my head with their conviction to go through this trial.

Rape/Sexual harassment victims. They have been robbed of their freewill to give themselves to someone they love. But despite the traumas they’ve been through, they opened themselves vulnerable yet again to the world, trusting and loving. And all I can do is give a hug for you, woman.

These are just some of the examples that women of strength go through. A lot more of women are going through different struggles in their lives. Whoever among you thinks that women are weak? It’s just so unfortunate that you have met the wrong women then.

I live to be inspired by these women daily. To go through my problems with a smile on my face every single day. To aspire for the dreams I’ve set for myself. To be the best that I can be with what I have. To express who I am and not be afraid to show the world the real me.

Cheers to these WOMEN OF STRENGTH. Someday I hope to even come close to what you are, woman! I salute you!

P.S.
This article was primarily inspired by Chel who celebrated her birthday last September 21. You just don’t know how much I admire you ^_^ HAPPY BIRTHDAY, girl!

P.S.S.
I’d also like to acknowledge women of strength that have inspired me to write this article: Ron (as always), Ni, Malou (thanks for being a great friend despite we’ve known each other for a short time. what you’ve shown me led me to admire you more and more every day), mommy Alma (your wisdom is just beyond your age), Dudai’s mom (her strength is just enormous), and of course my Mom (you’re just the best).

Welcome Me Back

Filed under: Random Thoughts — sweetlouie @ 8:57 am

I can’t really say that I have been out of the loop, that is blogging, for quite a time coz I had my latest article sometime early this month, specifically September 5. But I haven’t really produced any good articles of late. I’d say that the last good one I made was "The Park at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Ortigas".

Somehow I had trouble conjuring up emotions within me; emotions that are afraid to surface, emotions that are just too raw, all too new. But a lot of things have inspired me lately: a job that I have come to love, family and friends that never left me all this time, an upcoming trip to Hong Kong, being able to conquer mountains and most of all a newfound love. *blush*

So welcome me back! ^_^ I’m coming to the blogging world with a vengeance. Hopefully with more brighter, colorful, interesting and exciting stories to share with everyone.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my articles again.

Oh and please do comment on articles that you really like and/or those that hit a nerve and touch you to your core.

God bless! ^_^

Waiting and waiting and waiting…

Filed under: Sociology and Society — sweetlouie @ 3:33 am

Wouldn’t it be nice if you only think of yourself? Not being dependent on someone for something… Wouldn’t it be nice if you can do things without taking into consideration the people or future events that might get affected by your decisions?

But it doesn’t happen that way. IT NEVER DOES. There is always someone or something that gets affected however trivial or insignificant that decision or action seem to be.

It sure is fun to be independent. And not being able to rely so much on others. It gives you a sense of freedom and fulfillment, as well. But in the end, even you, yourself have to rely on that someone or something, whatever that is. After all, it has been said, NO MAN IS AN ISLAND.

Relationships between people has always been fascinating and complex. You have your colleagues at school or at work. You also have what you call acquaintances. You have friends; despite them being annoying or sweet.  And of course, there’s our family.

As your relationship with another person becomes intimate, it becomes tightly linked then you become tightly attached to that person. In the process you develop dependencies. It’s just sad sometimes that too much dependencies lead to higher expectations. And when expectations are not met then well, it gets bitter… sour… Unless, of course, both parties learn to deal with it and let it go.

Relationships are that and everything. And the waiting keeps on going and going. I’m actually waiting for someone to finish up stuff. And I’m just bored at the office right now, wasn’t able to do anything because of some technical problems with our counterparts, yet again. ^_^

Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)

Filed under: Music — sweetlouie @ 7:03 pm

In an age where vanity is encouraged and physical appearances matter, along comes a song that deviates from all these beliefs. I love Mika for this song. This song is for me and for all big the girls out there ^_^ Don’t hide behind your fats. Show all those curves, girl! *wink*

BIG GIRL (You Are Beautiful)
by Mika

Big girl you are beautiful

Walks in to the room
Feels like a big balloon
I said, ‘Hey girls you are beautiful’
Diet coke and a pizza please
Diet coke I’m on my knees
Screaming ‘Big girl you are beautiful’

You take your skinny girls
Feel like I’m gonna die
Cos a real woman
Needs a real man here’s why

You take your girl
And multiply her by four
Now a whole lot of woman
Needs a whole lot more

Get yourself to the Butterfly Lounge
Find yourself a big lady
Big boy come on around
And they’ll be calling you baby

No need to fantasise
Since I was in my braces
A watering hole
With the girls around
And curves in all the right places

Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful

Walks in to the room
Feels like a big balloon
I said, ‘Hey girls you are beautiful’
Diet coke and a pizza please
Diet coke I’m on my knees
Screaming ‘Big girl you are beautiful’

You take your girl
And multiply her by four
Now a whole lot of woman
Needs a whole lot more

Get yourself to the Butterfly Lounge
Find yourself a big lady
Big boy come on around
And they’ll be calling you baby

No need to fantasise
Since I was in my braces
A watering hole
With the girls around
And curves in all the right places

Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful
Big girls you are beautiful
